Mike from Hogarth Honey has shared his experience on April 2025

Hiya, I made 150 sheets today and thought I would give a little feedback to you. Rollers worked great once I got the hang of them. I know you recommend lots of soap but I think you need to explain its lots & lots & lots of soap

I found the sheets constantly caught on the rollers and tore to start with. Extra soap helped but didn’t stop it. I found the tension on the rollers was too tight and by backing the wing nuts off 1/4 of a turn it cured the problem instantly. Also 30c seemed too high a temp for the sheets and made them too soft but 20c was best for me. All in all very pleased with them. Thanks very much. Mike, Hogarth Honey

We gave a ClownBee3D to a independent tester in July 2024, Charles B, to see how they got on…

Today I tried my ClownBee3d for the first time. Getting my head around producing flat wax sheet took a while, but once I got the correct temperature of molten wax, everything became much easier. Using the ClownBee3d on the other hand was much easier.

Three things.
1) you need to clamp the base to something, as you need two free hands.
2)the sheets of wax you made need to be warm
3) plenty of soapy water.

The quality of the ClownBee3d is exceptional. Really well put together with quality components. Rolling the sheets of wax and producing unbelievable foundation is another level for my bee keeping hobby.
I know it’s a fiddle, but Ive tried imported silicone sheet moulds (that were next to useless), I’ve tried using my bee societies loan steel flat press, they are all a fiddle.

The ClownBee3d roller produced really high quality foundation that I cut to fit both British national brood and super sizes.
Well done! A product I would happily recommend to anyone.
Looking forward to seeing it in action in the spring, in my new hives!

A few videos from Charles B using it in action…
